How a site earns the save

What this place is

Worth a Bookmark is a hand-kept collection of well-built websites. Not a feed, not a ranking, not a scrape — a set of bookmarks curated the slow way: someone suggests a site, someone here opens it and uses it, and if it's genuinely worth returning to, it gets saved with a note explaining why. The note is the point; a bookmark without a reason is just a link.

Review, step by step

1. Suggest. Anyone can put any site forward at /suggest — your own work or someone else's you keep going back to. Suggesting is free.
2. Use it for real. A person opens the site in a real browser — desktop and phone — and pays attention to craft, clarity, character, and whether it holds up underfoot. A screenshot can accompany a suggestion; it never decides one.
3. The answer. Saved or a pass, by email. A pass comes with the reason, and a reworked site is welcome to be suggested again.
4. The save. A kept site gets its page: a full snapshot, a bookmark number, the ribbon markers, and the note.

Speed dial

The reading list is free and moves in order. Speed dial costs $10 and promises the answer within 24 hours. The money buys the timer and nothing else — the bar never moves, and if the answer is a pass, the full amount is refunded. Payments run through our payment processor; card details never touch our systems.

What we publish, and what we keep to ourselves

A saved site's page shows its public address, the snapshot we took of its public pages, the palette we read off that snapshot, and the note we wrote. That's all.

From suggestions we keep the entry itself — address, contact email, any note or screenshot that came with it — on our infrastructure, and the email is used only to send the answer. Answer and receipt emails go out through our email delivery provider, acting as our data processor. The site is hosted on Cloudflare. No analytics scripts, no ad pixels, nothing sold to anyone.

Coming off the list

A bookmark is a living thing: a site that dies, stuffs itself with ads, or loses the design that earned the save gets removed. Own a saved site and want it gone anyway? One email and it's done — fasttrack@worthabookmark.com.

About the snapshots

Snapshots show public pages, used to identify and recommend the work — the same way a review quotes the book. Every image links back to the site it shows, and the copyright in the pictured work stays with its owner. Object to an image of your site? Same address as above; it comes down.
